Building of a wind farm and erection of turbines
The building of a wind farm starts with earthworks, i.e. the building of roads and turbine areas and the installation of cables and the electricity substation.
The transport and erection of wind turbine components is almost always the responsibility of the turbine supplier. The wind turbine is usually transported by road, the tower in sections and the nacelle and the rotor blades and hub separately. Erection usually takes place in sections using two cranes: the tower sections, the nacelle normally in one piece (in some turbines the power unit is lifted separately), and the rotor either as ready-assembled or each blade at a time.
